BLACKADDER Dame Elizabeth

Drame Elizabeth Blackadder was born in Falkirk in 1931 and studied at Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art. She lives and works in Edinburgh and mainly works in watercolour and oils. Blackadder holds 3 honorary memberships and 2 honorary fellowships to Royal societies along with 4 honorary doctorates from 4 universities.

In 1955 Elizabeth Blackadder, RA was awarded a travel scholarship to Italy and has since worked in France and Portugal. She was awarded the OBE in 1982. She has had exhibitions in London, Edinburgh and Florence to name but a few and her work is in many public galleries. In 2001 she was appointed Her Majesty’s Painter and Limner in Scotland.
