Michael Rothenstein was born in London in 1908 and died in July 1993. He studied at Chelsea School of Art and Central School of Art.
The youngest son of Sir William Rothenstein, Michael taught in Britain and America. Internationally famous as a printmaker he had a fertile imagination, making use of many methods – lithography, screen-printing, lino-cuts and monotypes. In the 70’s he taught at Camberwell School of Art and Hornsey college of Art. Having his own graphic workshop at his home in Stistead in Essex, he was able to experiment with all kinds of techniques.
His work is in many public collections including Tate Galllery, British Museum and the V & A Museum.
