About Stone Cross Market
In planning Harlow Town Centre, Frederick Gibberd quoted "that a market should be the principal space or focus of the north of the Town Centre because of my love of the oldest form of English shopping".
With that, Harlow Market opened in Stone Cross and began trading on 19th May 1956. The popularity of the market grew instantly and lead to it increasing from two market days a week, to four, in less than a year.
Currently Harlow Market is held 5 days a week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Monday's bric-a-brac market is particularly popular. Held in Market Square, it hosts a variety of stalls including Fruit 'n' veg, fresh fish, fresh meat, bags, clothing, magazines, flowers, pet supplies.
