Soldier Bending a Bow by Jacques Bousseau
Soldier Bending a Bow
Artist: Jacques Bousseau
Bronze cast
66 x 27 x 27 cm
The Playhouse
Soldier Bending a Bow was purchased by the Trust in
1963. It is thought to be a nineteenth century copy of a work by or
after the French sculptor Jacques Bousseau. There are several
versions of the work on a larger scale, including one in the Museum
of Fine Arts in Boston. There is also a version, the same size as
the Harlow cast, in the Louvre. The Harlow cast is signed with the
name 'P. Puget', a seventeenth century French sculptor.
