Kore was purchased in celebration of Old Harlow winning the Council for Europe Award for Architectural Heritage Award in 1975. Harlow Development Corporation and Harlow Art Trust contributed funds to acquire it. It was unveiled by Sir Thomas Monington, President of the Royal Academy.
