Contrapuntal Forms was commissioned by the Arts Council of Great Britain, for the South Bank exhibition of the 1951 Festival of Britain. Harlow Development Corporation acquired it in the distribution of works which took place at the end of the Festival. Contrapuntal Forms was granted Grade II listing by English Heritage in 1998.
