The Crucifix - Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral is the drawing for the altar crucifix which Elizabeth Frink presented to the Cathedral Committee. Explaining her design she said: "I made it as simply as I possibly could and without the usual representation of the cross. The section through the sculpture is very thin, as I felt that something refined and elegant was required. I also made the figure very fluid in movement and from all the way through, so as to make a silhouette rather than a solid sculptural shape". The Crucifix was modelled in plaster and cast in bronze with a patina of light gold to catch the light.
