For a fascinating tour of the
town's history from pre-historic times to the present day call into
The
Museum of Harlow.
Displays include Roman artefacts, exhibits illustrating the
development of the New Town and the Collins' cycle
collection. Particular highlights include archaeological
discoveries from Harlow's Roman Temple site. The fascinating
displays of objects and memorabilia are housed in five galleries
within a 19th Century Stable block of Mark Hall Manor.
Delve into your family history using the Museum's extensive
reference library, which includes:
* Harlow Archive Access Point
* A complete set of local newspapers from 1953
* Photographs, slides, tapes and videos
* Maps and plans
* Other printed memorabilia such as programmes and scrapbooks
The Museum is based in the former stable block of Mark Hall Manor
House and is home to Mark Hall Gardens - a series of four,
beautifully landscaped gardens, well worth a visit.
