Cantate
Meets: Saturdays and Sundays at St Mary's Catholic
School;, Windhill, Bishop's Stortford.
Activities: Youth choirs from 8 - 12; youth choir
12-15 and senior choir 15+. Also have a chamber choir and a parents
and friends choir. Cantate is an open access choir and does
not hold auditions for training choir.

De Merc Chamber Choir
Meets: Tuesdays at 8pm at St. Mary at Latton Church Hall, The Gowers, Harlow.
Activities: A small friendly adult choir of experienced amateur singers (16yrs and over) singing mostly secular and generally unaccompanied works, ranging from 16th century madrigals to arrangements of Beatles' favourites. Performances are given several times a year ,principally in small venues such as churches. New members always welcome.

Efua Sey Cultural Academy Limited
Meets: St.
Andrews Methodist Church Hall, The Stow, Harlow on Mondays and
Wednesdays from 5pm-6.30pm for children and young people 5 to 15
years old.
Activities: Runs African drumming and dance
sessions at St. Andrews, workshops, classes and performances on
African and Caribbean cultural arts in schools,
play/youth/community centres, libraries and various venues. Accepts
engagements for public and private performances of African dances;
Workshops are usually based on African drumming and dance for both
children and adults, drama, story telling, acting African and
Caribbean indoor and outdoor games and African traditional cloth
designing and printing. Also run after-school/holiday play/arts and
cultural clubs for children

Harlow Brass Band
Meets: Thursday evenings at 8pm at the Latton Bush Centre
Activities: Traditional brass band that rehearses for a range of performances in and around Harlow, including fetes, town shows and brass band contests around the country.

Harlow Chorus

Activities: Harlow Chorus is a friendly, lively and innovative mixed choir. Members enjoy rehearsing with Musical Director Daniel Hyde and perform a wide range of music with professional orchestras in a variety of venues, both in the UK and abroad. New members are always welcome.

Activities: Concert band wind and brass instruments. Players grade IV + equivalent very welcome. No age limit.

Harlow Music Society
Meets: 3rd Thursday of the month at Great Parndon C.A., Abercrombie Way, Harlow at 8pm.
Activities: A monthly miscellany of music classical, light and jazz presented by artistes (often local) duos, groups and choirs, illustrated talks and occasionally films. Monthly visits to the Festival Hall, London for orchestral concerts are arranged.

Harlow Steelband
Harlow Steelband offers local young people (aged 9-12) the chance to take part in weekly steel pan workshops. The band runs rehearsal sessions with a tutor every Monday evening at the Sumners Leisure Centre in Harlow and an events programme throughout the year. These sessions are free for all young people to join. The band offers a very different musical ensemble to other local music groups, young people require no existing musical ability to join the band.

Harlow Symphony Orchestra
Meets: Weekly in term time
Activities: The orchestra has been in existence for over 30 years and it provides an opportunity for amateur musicians to rehearse and perform works from the classical repertoire. Three or four concerts are performed a year.

Jazz at The ARC

Activities: A monthly concert of hot traditional jazz and swing played by top quality international musicians.

Marigolds JAzz Club
Principally a Jazz Club, although they hold alternative types of music, mainly Blues during the month as well.
Meets: at Harlow Cricket Club, Marigolds, Chippingfield, Old Harlow. Jazz is played on the last Friday of the month, except December and alternative types of music on Fridays in the middle of the month.

New Edition Singers

Activities: Performs a range of musical styles from modern musical theatre to grand opera at The Playhouse and other venues.

PATACC (Performing Arts in Traditional African and Caribbean Cultures)
Meets: Rainbow Centre 2,Wych Elm, Harlow on Mondays and Wednesdays 2pm- 4pm for mentoring, information and advice and at St.Andrews Methodist Church Hall, the Stow on Thursdays 7pm-9pm (with Efua Sey Cultural Academy) for adults African drumming and dance sessions.

Squareone
The Square is Harlow's live entertainment venue with a 30 year history at the the heart of the music scene in the town. From July 2008 the Square is under new management, free from recent constraints and will be offering a varied programme across a wide range of musical genres to appeal to all ages. Meets at the Square, Fourth Avenue, Harlow.
Runs from Thursday - Sunday and the Downstairs bar will open Saturday & Sunday Midday - 6pm

Young Musician of The Year
Young Musician of the Year is
held annually in April. It is an open competition run by the Rotary
Club of Harlow. There are 18 classes comprising six
categories - Accordion, Brass, Piano/Keyboard, Strings, Vocal
and Woodwind each for three age groups: under 12, under 16 and
under 19.
The 18 classes take place at Burnt Mill School during the day. Each
winners prize is £25 and in the evening at the Playhouse the 18
winners compete for the title Young Musician of the Year and the
prize is £250.
