Harlow Today
Today Harlow is a well established, thriving community with exciting opportunities for further growth in terms of housing, education, business and leisure.
The town has a population of 80,600 and currently has around 35,000 homes.
To accommodate this growing population the town has had to expand over the years. Church Langley is the newest completed neighbourhood in Harlow - built in the 1990's. Development of New Hall began in 2000's and The Harlow Gateway Scheme which is providing around 600 homes on the former Sportcentre and swimming pool sites is currently under construction.
42,000 people are employed in Harlow but in recent years the emphasis on jobs has shifted from manufacturing to high tech/ Research and Development, retail, leisure and logistics.
70.8% of the working population is employed, compared to 70.4% nationaly.
